The Smart Hunter's Code of Honor

Hunting should always be done smartly.  What does it mean to be smart?  It means to follow a set of rules; a hunter's code of honor.  By following these rules, you will make sure you have a safe and enjoyable hunt.

  1. Respect wildlife and the environment it lives in.
  2. Shoot only to kill fast--prevent suffering if possible.
  3. Make sure you know 100% what you're shooting at, before you shoot it.
  4. Always follow all state and local hunting laws and regulations.
  5. Hunt sober and with a clear mind.  Always.
  6. Be a good example for other aspiring hunters, and to those who don't understand hunting.
  7. Understand what you're shooting at and why you're shooting it.
  8. Don't be wasteful.  Don't shoot anything unless you plan to do something with it.
  9. Make sure you know how to handle the situation if things go badly.
  10. Always know your weapon and how to use it safely.
